Bourgeois guitars have been handcrafted in in the USA since 1975. Located in an 1840's mill in Lewiston, Maine, Dana Bourgeois and his fellow craftsman, most of who have been with him for years, build about 30 guitars a month and remain committed to each instrument as an individual. Every instrument is tweaked, shaved and prodded by expert hands. It starts with the wood selection by Dana, a foremost authority on the voicing, selection and utilization of fine acoustic tone woods and ends with each guitar "singing" usually while the entire shop crowds around to hear the pure and balanced tone of another great Bourgeois guitar.
As testimony to these great instruments, they have become a favorite of many professional country and bluegrass players, such as Ricky Skaggs, Bryan Sutton, Martin Simpson, Sean Watkins and Chris Thile of Nickel Creek, Skip Cherryholmes, Steve Earle, Ron Block, Dan Tyminski and Marshall Crenshaw.
